WEBINAR Yamas and Niyamas: A Blueprint for Happiness

  • Brought to you in the comfort of your own home :) (map)
  • Why do we think or say hurtful things about others sometimes?

  • What internal patterns prevent us from understanding or accepting the truth?

  • How can we settle into the understanding our inner brilliance and recognize that we already have everything we need?

  • From the ancient yogic perspective, what is the best way to practice self-study?

We will explore these and many more questions through lecture, discussion, and specific practices in this Year Long Meditation Retreat. Join Luke for a three-day program that will take a unique, comprehensive look at the first two limbs of Raja yoga—yamas and niyamas, the “10 commitments” of yoga.

Explore a rich and thorough framework for approaching the five high-minded ideals for interacting with the world (yamas) and the five methods for cultivating a dynamic personality (niyamas). Learn the philosophical backdrop for these foundational yogic principles.

Find out how we can constantly use the world around us—and our interactions with others—to refine our habits. With the proper framework, we will not only improve our everyday awareness, but also apply the practices that move us to a deeper understanding of who we really are and why we are here. Learn how to apply those refinements to your life and your own inner environment—and discover your ability to transform and blossom into your best self.

Year Long Meditation is the best time to experience this foundational workshop in the immersive environment of the Himalayan Institute community, and the newly consecrated Sri Vidya Shrine is the best place to apply your newfound inner vision.

This program will:

  • Solidify the philosophical foundation for why you do yoga

  • Bolster your desire to keep deepening your personal practice

  • Give perspective and rational for how to change unhealthy and unhelpful habits

  • Teach practices related to each of the 5 yamas

  • Teach practices related to each of the 5 niyamas

  • Experience the integration of philosophy and practice—to the ultimate goal of fulfillment and freedom
